What it means to be a helping herts charity partner
Having been selected as a charity partner of Helping Herts for a second year, we invited the team to share a little bit about what Helping Herts does for charities and families across Hertfordshire and a little about its history.
Chief Operations Officer, Josh Danbury shared;
“At Helping Herts (HH), we are proud to have GRIT as one of our charity partners and continue to be impressed by the work they do and the impact they have on young people. HH exists to strengthen the vital work of charities across Hertfordshire by bringing people, businesses and good causes together. Rather than supporting one single organisation, Helping Herts focuses on collaboration, helping charities become more resilient, visible and connected.
Originally focused on hospices, HH brought together a network of providers across the county to collaborate and build strength in unity. At this time in the journey of HH, the key output was social media support, business support and fundraising.
Founders Gordon Morrison and Jim Tatchell had noted that often hospice’s social presence was limited and their business practices, especially in their high street stores, weren’t allowing them to maximise this arm of their fundraising. HH assembled a small team of relevant industry experts to offer the hospices this insight and consultation at no charge, whilst also raising vital funds and awareness with a burgeoning event calendar.
Gordon and Jim both have extensive histories of philantrophy and once they had embedded change within hospice business practice, the future of children and young people was their next focus. Having seen the mounting challenges children and young people were facing in a post-covid world, they set about uniting Hertfordshire’s most trusted and respected charities to power the work they were already doing in our community.
With this shift, HH opened up a new world of impact.
Having raised a combined £350K in 2025 across all partners, HH has transformed the way our partners operate and fundraise.
We promote collaboration over competition so we can all best serve the children and young people in Hertfordshire.

At the end of 2025 we rebranded, pivoting to a cleaner, professional look that captures the work we do as a trusted partner for our 12 charities.
We’ve got big plans for 2026 and beyond, expanding our events calendar, bringing in new communities and stakeholders, launching the Choices initiative and ultimately continuing to stand by our partners.”
We thank Gordon, Jim, Josh and team for the opportunity to be involved for yet another great year. To see what events are planned and to get involved whether that’s joining us to take part or fundraising, check out their event listings here.
